Job summary

VEG is seeking an Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our front-line ER team. You will perform triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, and critical care nursing while offering compassionate support to pet parents during stressful moments.

Key duties include IV therapies, monitoring, CPR readiness, and collaboration with doctors to maintain smooth care flow across cases. Potential growth and mentorship are emphasized in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher in veterinary technology from an AVMA-accredited program strongly preferred.
• Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state the VEG practice is located is required; VTS in ECC, internal medicine or anesthesia/analgesia is a plus and may affect compensation
• 1+ years of experience as a veterinary technician; emergency or specialty medicine preferred
• Basic computer skills and EMR/practice management software experience
• Excellent communicator and calm under pressure; teammates rely on you
• Fine motor skills for handling patients and medical equipment; able to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 kg solo (40 kg with assistance)
• Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as-needed basis
• Able to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care, triage, treatments, and emotional support from first contact to discharge.
• Deliver nursing care, treatments, and emotional support in critical moments.
• Administer medications, monitor patients, and manage IVs/CRIs/blood products.
• Communicate clearly with teammates and help shape patient care plans.
• Be prepared to perform CPR and support RECOVER training initiatives.
• Handle diagnostics, imaging, sample collection, and tube placement.
• Assist anesthesia and manage fragile patients as needed.
• Utilize advanced techniques like central lines, endoscopy, and ultrasounds.
