Job summary

Emergency Veterinary Hospital in Springfield, OR is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support our 13 doctors in a 24/7 ER setting. Full-time assistants work 3-12s or 4-10s, providing compassionate care for urgent cases and routine visits.

You will help with exam rooms, patient records, and client education while ensuring safety and comfort for pets during their visits, under the direction of veterinarians and technicians.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year of pet care experience preferred.
• Broad animal science knowledge; basic pharmacology.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clean, disinfected exam rooms and equipment between visits.
• Obtain patient history and update records.
• Calm and restrain pets during procedures.
• Monitor vital signs after surgery.
• Educate owners on pet care and aftercare instructions.
• Support doctors and technicians to ensure quality care.
