Job summary

PetVet Care Centers seeks an Emergency Veterinary Assistant for overnight coverage at Cascade Veterinary Referral Center in Tigard, Oregon. The role requires 12-hour shifts (6:30 PM–7:00 AM) with at least one weekend shift, and may transition to 4 overnight shifts of 10 hours.

The candidate must be 18+, have a high school diploma, and 1 year veterinary assistant experience. Benefits include medical/dental/vision, 401(k), pet discounts, and wellness support.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older to be considered
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1 year of veterinary assistant experience

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients
• Greet patients and owners, take weight and vitals on arrival
• Triage patients, perform exams, administer medications as directed by LVTs
• Calm and soothe anxious patients
• Assist doctors and technicians with medications or restraints
• Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs
• Operate and maintain hospital equipment (EKG, pumps, monitors)
• Fill prescriptions and document controlled drugs securely
• Record patient appetites and communicate with clients about care
• Educate clients about insurance, wellness, and treatment plans
• Maintain hospital cleanliness and proper chemical handling
• Bath and care for overnight patients and ensure clean release
• Adhere to safety and wellness regulations and carry out directions
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure reliability of data
• Show up for full-time shifts and promote hospital products/services
• Respond to directions from DVM or LVTs and perform other duties as assigned
