Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) is hiring a part-time Emergency Veterinary Assistant. You will be in the heart of the action from day one, supporting your team, comforting pet parents, and learning the ropes in real time.

This role is ideal for someone pursuing veterinary technician credentials or exploring growth within emergency medicine. You’ll participate in triage, treatments, and anesthesia support, with opportunities for advanced responsibilities through structured training pathways and

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Enrolled in AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program a plus.
  • 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience is a bonus).
  • Basic computer skills and understanding of practice management software and EMR.

Responsibilities

  • Be the first warm welcome and triage incoming patients.
  • Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics from bloodwork to imaging.
  • Set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation with clinicians.
  • Manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration.
  • Support care in outpatient or inpatient settings, from exam room to treatment area.
  • Join patient rounds to help maintain continuity of care.
  • Learn CPR and RECOVER certification training.
  • Grow into advanced roles via guided training.
