Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) is hiring an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to be in the heart of the ER from day one, supporting the team, comforting pet parents, and learning on real cases. This role offers growth toward credentialed technician paths and ongoing mentorship.

You’ll gain hands-on experience across triage, treatments, anesthesia support, and critical care in a fast-paced, compassionate clinic environment with 24/7 nationwide support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Enrolled in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty bonus!).
• Basic computer skills and EMR familiarity.
• Excellent communicator with pet parents and team.
• Ability to stand for long hours and lift up to 25 kg.

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome and triage incoming patients, guiding them toward care.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics from bloodwork to imaging.
• Work with technicians and veterinarians to monitor anesthesia and sedation.
• Set up and manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medications.
• Support care in outpatient or inpatient settings and rounds for continuity.
• Learn CPR and pursue RECOVER certification with training provided.
