Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) is seeking a part-time Emergency Veterinary Assistant. You’ll support the team from day one, assist with triage, treatments, and monitoring, and learn through guided training pathways for growth in emergency medicine.

You’ll work alongside credentialed technicians and veterinarians, performing duties from triage to recovery, in a fast-paced environment that values patient and pet-parent care. Night, weekend, and holiday availability is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• AVMA-accredited vet tech program enrollment is a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty a bonus).
• Basic computer skills and EMR familiarity.
• Excellent communicator with clients and team.
• Ability to lift up to 25 kg and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome and triage incoming patients.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Work with technicians and veterinarians on anesthesia setup and monitoring.
• Set up and manage IV fluids, blood products, and meds.
• Support care across outpatient and inpatient areas.
• Join rounds and stay close to the clinical picture for continuity.
