Job summary

VEG, a leading veterinary emergency provider in the United States, seeks Veterinary Nursing Shift Leads. You will own shift rhythm, ensure top-tier patient care, and empower VEGgies to thrive through coaching, rounds, and proactive leadership.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year in veterinary tech roles, CVT/RVT/LVT credentials preferred, and strong communication and empathy. Night/weekend availability is required in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• CVT, RVT, LVT or VEG Credentialing preferred.
• 1+ year in veterinary technician/assistant role; ER or specialty experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of clinical workflow and teamwork.
• Comfort guiding others with empathy and clear communication.
• Flexibility to step in wherever needed; ability to work nights/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patient status and team bandwidth across shifts.
• Coordinate breaks, manage workflow, and adapt to changes.
• Assign and adjust shift roles with clarity and care.
• Step onto the floor to assist as needed and mentor staff.
• Lead huddles, wrap-ups, and smooth shift transitions.
• Communicate clearly and escalate key issues to leadership.
• Turn downtime into learning or rest moments for the team.
• Flag incidents with transparency and a growth mindset.
• Collaborate with hospital leadership on coverage and coaching.
