Job summary

UofL Health is seeking an Emergency Department Tech/Unit Coordinator to provide clinical patient care support during nights. You will assist RNs, handle clerical duties, admissions/discharges, venipuncture and EKGs, and aid in trauma and respiratory tasks in a fast-paced ED.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, completion of a clinical assistant/EMT program, and BLS certification. Prior ED experience is preferred, with strict adherence to HIPAA and infection control policies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a recognized Clinical Assistant, Medical Assistant or EMT training program.
• Nursing students who completed Fundamentals of Nursing course may be considered.
• BLS certification required by American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical patient care support under RN direction.
• Assist with admitting and discharging patients in hospital systems.
• Perform phlebotomy and 12-lead ECG testing under RN direction.
• Transport patients, specimens, and lab work as needed.
• Transcribe and enter physician orders into computer systems accurately.
• Maintain infection control practices and safety checks on high-risk patients.
• Assist with wound care, cast/splint training and mobility support.
• Assist in orientation of new staff and respond to lifesaving situations.
