Job summary

UofL Health, Inc. is seeking an Emergency Room Tech/Unit Coordinator for the Jewish Hospital ED. The role supports clinical care under an RN, performs clerical tasks, phlebotomy, EKGs, and trauma care, and helps with admitting, discharging, and documentation in multiple systems.

Responsibilities include vital signs, patient transport, wound care, safety checks, and assisting physicians. Requires ED exposure, BLS certification, and completion of MA/EMT training or nursing coursework.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a recognized Clinical Assistant, Medical Assistant or EMT Training Program, or Nursing Students who have completed Fundamentals of Nursing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Experience in ED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Measures and documents intake and output, heights, weights, and vital signs.
• Applies, monitors, and documents restraint usage.
• Performs safety checks on high risk patients per standard.
• Obtains timed cardiac markers on patients with life threatening heart disease.
• Transcribes and enters physician orders; assists in admissions/discharges.
• Assists RN/RT with procedure set-ups and wound care as needed.
• Operates beds, wheelchairs, stretchers and related equipment safely.
• Transports patients and specimens to laboratories and other departments.
