Job summary

UofL Health is seeking an Emergency Dept Tech/Unit Coordinator at University Hospital - UMC in Louisville, KY. You will assist the RN with patient care in a fast-paced ED, perform clerical duties, admit/discharge, and support trauma care and respiratory functions.

Essential tasks include vitals, venipuncture, EKG placement, charting in the SMS system, and coordinating with MD/NPs. Prior ED exposure and BLS are preferred for this full-time role.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Completion of approved Clinical Assistant, Medical Assistant or EMT program preferred.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Measure and document intake, output, vitals, height/weight and patient status.
• Apply and monitor restraints as needed and perform safety checks.
• Venipuncture for specimens and 12-lead EKGs under RN direction.
• Transcribe orders and input into the SMS hospital system; communicate with providers.
• Transport patients and lab samples; assist with wound care and discharge tasks.
