Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch in Webster, TX is seeking a patient care technician to provide intermediate technical assistance and supportive care in the Emergency Department. You will collect data, take vital signs, and assist with patient activities and procedures to support the care team.

Responsibilities include performing Point of Care Testing, helping with admissions and discharges, and maintaining a safe, confidential, and clean environment while participating in quality

Qualifications

• Completion of EMT program or enrollment with clinical health assessments.
• Active EMS certification in good standing at date of hire.
• Military medic training is acceptable.
• ER Tech CBO Tool completed within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide intermediate technical assistance and supportive patient care in the Emergency Department.
• Take vital signs, collect specimens, and document data for care planning.
• Perform Point of Care Testing and report results.
• Assist with patient activities, hygiene, feeding, and mobility as directed.
• Support admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
• Assist with examinations, procedures, and minor operating room tasks.
• Maintain patient safety and confidentiality; ensure clean, safe areas.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and productive staffing.

Education

EMT program

Nursing school (first semester) with clinical concepts

Active state EMS certification

Military medic training (US Army/Navy/US Air Force/Coast Guard)

ER Tech CBO Tool completion within 6 months
