Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch in Webster, TX seeks an ED Support Technician to provide intermediate technical assistance and supportive patient care across the Emergency Department. You will collect vital signs, perform point-of-care testing and assist with patient activities as assigned by the charge nurse.

Qualifications

• Completion of EMT program or nursing school first semester with clinical concepts and health assessments
• Active state EMS certification in good standing
• Military medic training recognized (US Army, Navy, Air Force or Coast Guard)
• ER Tech CBO Tool required within 6 months of employment

Responsibilities

• Collects, reports and documents data including vital signs, height/weight, intake/output, pulse oximetry and specimens
• Performs and reports Point of Care Testing
• Assists with patient activities and care as directed by the nurse in charge
• Maintains patient privacy and safety and helps with patient mobility and hygiene
• Assists with admissions, transfers and discharges and supports the healthcare team during procedures
