Job summary

Blanchard Valley Health System seeks an ER Tech I to support physicians and nurses in the Emergency Department. Under supervision, assists staff, transports patients, and maintains supplies and an organized environment.

Responsibilities include patient care assistance, clerical duties, phlebotomy and specimen collection, drug screens, and accurate charge entry. Demonstrates service excellence and collaborates with teams to ensure patient safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current BLS CPR certification or obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Experience in healthcare settings, direct or indirect patient care, or STNA.
• Positive service oriented communication skills.
• Strong collaboration and organizational skills.
• Expert using technology, strong typing and computer skills.
• Knowledge of growth and development across the life span.
• Ability to interpret information to meet age-specific needs.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates age-appropriate care and reports changes in patient condition.
• Assist with patient care and room preparation per nursing staff.
• Orders and restocks patient care supplies to meet daily needs.
• Exhibits Service Excellence aligning with the organization's mission and values.
• Complies with policies to ensure quality and compliance.
• Train, perform, and maintain competency in phlebotomy, nasal and throat cultures.
• Train, perform, and maintain competency in drug screens.
• Witness patient signature and notify ER UTL if signer unavailable.
• Enter ED supply and ED physician procedure charges into computer.
• Answer phones, transfer calls, and relay messages with etiquette.
• Maintain departmental and unit-specific competencies.
