Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to remain calm and think clearly during stressful situations.
• Working knowledge of emergency management or medical training.
• Knowledge of safety guidelines, sterile techniques and infection prevention procedures.
• Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve problems in fast-paced settings.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of patient rights and laws including HIPAA and EMTALA.
• Ability to prioritize and organize tasks by unit needs.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care in the ED under supervision, performing interventions and procedures (e.g., splinting, IV access, accuchecks, vital signs, EKGs).
• Assists with patient transport to units, procedures areas, or discharge locations.
• Maintains clean, organized environment; restocks supplies; ensures equipment is operational.
• Communicates with patients, families, and care team; reports changes promptly.
• Documents care activities in the EMR system accurately.
• Responds quickly to emergencies, aiding the care team to ensure patient safety.
• Uses PPE and follows safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and self.
• Performs clerical tasks to support unit operations and maintains records.
• Collaborates with ancillary services to ensure seamless patient care.
