Job summary

Altus Community Healthcare in Eagle Pass, TX seeks an Emergency Room Technician to support physicians and nurses in the Emergency Center by performing patient care, assisting with procedures, and managing supplies and equipment for a cost‑effective, patient‑focused operation.

The role includes documenting vitals, phlebotomy, IV starts, EKGs, point‑of‑care testing, wound care, lab specimen collection, and ensuring rooms and equipment are clean and ready for use.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; EMT-P or EMT-B, preferred.
• 1-3 years ER or emergency medical technician experience desired.
• BLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Document vital signs and perform phlebotomy and IV starts.
• Perform EKGs, transport patients, and monitor vital signs.
• Prepare and assist with examinations and procedures as directed.
• Apply splints and assist with ortho care as needed.
• Maintain clean patient areas and restock supplies.
• Perform urine drug screens and point-of-care testing.
• Assist with lab testing and ensure proper documentation.
• Calibrate equipment and conduct basic QC procedures.
• Interact professionally with staff, physicians and patients.
