Job summary

Emerus, in partnership with Baylor Scott & White Health, seeks a PRN patient care technician to provide essential clinical support in a 16-bed small-format hospital setting. The role involves vital signs, specimen collection, specimen testing, wound care, and safe patient handling under nurse supervision.

The position requires BLS (ACLS preferred in many markets), IV starts, phlebotomy, and EKG initiation experience, with travel to all facility locations as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and related medical training paths.
• Current BLS certification mandatory.
• ACLS/ALS certification required in most markets.
• Experience with IV starts, phlebotomy and initiation of EKG is preferred.
• Multiple pathways listed for EMT/paramedic and nursing students in various markets.

Responsibilities

• Collect, report, and document clinical data including vital signs and specimens.
• Perform lab testing per COLA and CLIA policies and procedures.
• Assist with patient activities and care as directed by the charge nurse.
• Provide superficial wound care and ensure patient safety.
• Maintain patient privacy and a safe environment; follow infection control practices.
• Assist with admission, transfer and discharge processes.
