Job summary

Northwest Medical Center Houghton is seeking a per-diem Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to provide patient-centered care in our ED. The RN collaborates with physicians and the healthcare team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The role requires 2+ years of emergency nursing experience, state RN licensure, and BCLS; ACLS/PALS are preferred. Per-diem shifts, day hours, and a commitment to high-quality care are expected.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a clinical nursing role in an emergency care setting required
• RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required
• BCLS - Basic Life Support required
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and delivers patient-centered care according to nursing process and hospital policies.
• Performs thorough patient assessments and documents findings; reports changes promptly.
• Administers medications and monitors for side effects per standards of practice.
• Assists physicians during procedures within documented competency and scope.
• Collaborates with care team to develop, implement, and evaluate care plans.
• Responds to emergencies and participates in life-saving interventions as needed.
• Provides patient/family education on conditions, treatment, and post-discharge care.
• Maintains infection control protocols and safe environment; uses medical equipment safely.
