Job summary

GW Hospital in Washington, DC, part of Universal Health Services, seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for its Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department. The role focuses on critical care for acutely ill and traumatized patients, with access to advanced diagnostic and surgical services.

You will work with board-certified emergency physicians, nurse practitioners, and skilled ED nurses to deliver patient-centered care, education, and support to families in high-stakes scenarios.

Qualifications

  • BSN or currently enrolled.
  • DC RN License, or eligibility.
  • At least 1 year of clinical emergency department or critical care experience preferred.
  • Certification in BLS, ACLS, and PALS required.
  • TNCC certification within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care in a dynamic emergency department.
  • Perform assessments, develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Administer medications and monitor responses to treatment.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to optimize outcomes.
  • Educate patients and families on conditions and care plans.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research opportunities.
