Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in medical office administration or healthcare administration preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting including patient registration, scheduling, or front desk/admissions required.
• 0-2 years of customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and families professionally and with compassion.
• Register patients for emergency services and collect required information.
• Verify patient identity and insurance details; update records as needed.
• Obtain signatures on consent forms and explain each before signing.
• Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for billing purposes.
• Collect co-pays or deductibles and inform patients of financial obligations.
• Assist patients with insurance requirements and answer related questions.
• Document any situations where patient cannot sign and nursing signs off where appropriate.
• Identify proper insurance plan codes to ensure prompt payment.
• Assemble paperwork for quick retrieval and processing of visits.
• Place armband on each patient for identification throughout the stay.
• Notify department or physicians of patient arrival; follow up if waiting times occur.
• Maintain communication during emergencies and follow facility plans.
• Perform other duties as assigned and maintain regular attendance.
