Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide safe patient care in the Emergency Department. You will deliver nursing care following the nursing process, guide patient and family education, and supervise other nursing staff while maintaining professional standards.

You will collaborate with physicians, respond to clinical changes, and ensure EMTALA compliance and confidentiality. A valid RN license and current certifications are required or preferred as listed.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• BLS certificate upon hire and maintained.
• ALS certificate upon hire and maintained.
• PALS certificate and/or ENPC within 60 days and maintained.
• CEN certification preferred.
• BSN degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
• Direct and guide patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel.
• Coordinate with physician on changes in patient condition and diagnostic results.
• Respond quickly to changes in condition and treatment response.
• Maintain EMTALA compliance and report abuse as required.
• Protect patient privacy and confidentiality.
