Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Marlborough, MA is seeking a Patient Care Technician I to assist with direct patient care in the Emergency Room. The role includes monitoring patients, communicating with RNs, and supporting safety protocols in a busy clinical setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Current Basic Life Support certification is required.
• English reading/writing/communication skills are essential.
• Basic medical terminology knowledge is required.
• Competent computer skills are needed.
• Strong interpersonal skills for teamwork and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely communication to RN about patient observations and changes.
• Maintain constant observation of high‑risk patients as assigned.
• Contribute to a safe environment and assist in de‑escalation as needed.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and mobility.
• Use proper body mechanics to help move, lift, and transport patients.
• Adhere to department policies and participate in meetings and training.
