Job summary

Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) in Baltimore, MD seeks an experienced patient access registrar to handle arrival and registration for ED and inpatient/outpatient admissions. You will verify insurance, collect payments, and ensure accurate electronic records while delivering exceptional customer service.

The role requires the ability to work calmly in a fast-paced environment, collaborate with rotating staff, and use Epic and other hospital systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years related experience preferred; 6 months to 1 year in Emergency Department preferred.
• CHAA preferred.
• Completion of Medical Terminology class preferred.
• Experience in interviewing patients in urgent care or ED settings is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Completes Arrival and Registration for patients with urgent care needs or admission.
• Verify insurance information and collect payments when required.
• Enter patient data into registration systems and ensure accuracy of records.
• Provide excellent customer service and answer patient questions or escalate as needed.
• Coordinate with clinical staff across departments to support patient intake in high‑stress situations.
• Assist with training new department staff and volunteers.
• Use multiple hospital systems (Epic, Outlook, OnBase) to support registration tasks.
