Job summary

Universal Health Services, Inc. is seeking an Emergency Department Registered Nurse for North Valleys, an extension of Northern Nevada Medical Center. The role offers part-time hours (24 per week) with full benefits.

The ER operates 24/7 and handles a wide range of urgent and emergent cases, with opportunities for professional nursing care and care coordination across disciplines. Required NV RN license and 2–3 years in ED or critical care, plus BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications.

Qualifications

• Current NV RN License.
• Two to three years exp in the emergency department preferred OR.
• Two to three years critical Care Exp OR.
• extensive EMS background experience.
• Current BLS Certification.
• Current ACLS Certification (within 6 months of hire).
• Current PALS Certification (within 6 months of hire).

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
• Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and the general patient population.
• Uses triage process to ensure timely and appropriate care to patients. Accurately assigns triage categories.
• Ability to monitor hemodynamic status of patient and correctly interpret the results.
• Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
