Job summary

Backus Hospital, part of Hartford HealthCare, invites an experienced registered nurse to join the Emergency Department in Plainfield, CT. The role supports a patient-centered care model, with a focus on safe care and interdisciplinary teamwork.

Under the Nurse Manager, you will apply evidence-based practices, manage the nursing process, and care for diverse patients across ages. The position offers a night shift with an on-call sign-on bonus eligibility and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• One year of critical care RN experience required.
• BLS required. Ability to obtain and maintain ACLS, TNCC, PALS, and CPI within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain administration of moderate sedation within 9 months of hire.
• Current unrestricted License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut.
• Certified Emergency Nurse, Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work under the direction of the Nurse Manager in a collaborative ED team.
• Use the nursing process to develop a plan of care addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural and educational needs.
• Provide patient-centered, evidence-based nursing care.
• Contribute to a safe, efficient ED with interdisciplinary collaboration.
