Job summary

Backus Hospital in Plainfield, CT is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department. You will provide high-quality, patient-centered care across the age spectrum and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support rapid, safe patient flow.

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the RN applies evidence-based practice and the nursing process to develop an effective plan of care, meeting physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and families.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• One year critical care RN experience required.
• BLS required. ACLS, TNCC, PALS, CPI certifications within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain administration of moderate sedation within 9 months of hire.
• Current unrestricted License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut.
• Certified Emergency Nurse, Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to develop a plan of care meeting physical, emotional and educational needs.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure patient-centered care in the ED.
• Monitor patient status, respond to changes, and document care accurately.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and state nurse practice acts.
