Job summary

UNC Health in Caldwell Memorial Hospital's Emergency Room seeks a patient care support role to assist the professional caregiver, transport patients and supplies, and set up rooms. This full-time night shift position is onsite in Lenoir, NC, offering 36 hours per week and a competitive hourly rate.

Responsibilities include clerical tasks, monitoring patient conditions, documenting changes, and providing routine personal care under supervision.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Licensure: Nursing Assistant I by the NC DHHS; BLS certification.
• Language: Fluent in English (verbal and written).

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies.
• Reviews patient care documentation and reports significant changes to RN or physician.
• Performs clerical tasks: prioritizing workload, greeting visitors, researching information for nurses/physicians, transcribing orders, maintaining medical records, PI audits, and data entry.
• Provides clinical support such as cleaning areas, troubleshooting software/hardware, changing linens, stocking supplies, transporting patients and specimens, and orienting new staff and students.
• Provides direct personal care to patients per care plan (bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulation), records vital signs, and may assist with specimens, wound care, and ROM exercises.
• Reinforces patient teaching and distributes educational materials.
