Job summary

UNC Health Care seeks a Nursing Assistant I to support the Emergency Room team at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir, NC. You will assist with patient care, transport, room setup, and clerical tasks to keep the unit running smoothly.

Duties include assisting physicians and nurses, documenting conditions, taking vital signs, bathing and feeding, and stocking supplies. Requires a High School Diploma or GED, NC Nursing Assistant I credential, and BLS. Night shift, full-time, 36 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Nursing Assistant I credential (NC DHHS).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Must be fluent in English with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, and procurement of equipment and supplies.
• Critically reviews patient care documentation and reports significant changes to RN or physician.
• Performs clerical tasks: organize workload, greet visitors, review orders for clarity, transcribe orders, and maintain medical records.
• Provides clinical support: clean work area, maintain equipment, troubleshoot basic software/hardware, change linens, stock supplies, transport patients/specimens, and orient new staff.
• Provides direct personal care per plan of care: bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulation, record vital signs, height/weight, and basic nursing tasks.
• Reinforces patient education and distributes materials as requested by providers.
