Job summary

Cape Cod Healthcare in Massachusetts-Falmouth seeks a Health Unit Coordinator for Emergency Services to ensure accurate patient records, coordinate communications, and support clinical teams. Proficiency with EPIC is required and familiarity with hospital procedures is essential.

You will handle calls, arrange transports, manage forms and supplies, and maintain confidentiality while delivering service excellence to patients and staff in a fast-paced ED setting.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Successful passage of medical terminology course, or medical terminology challenge exam.
• Successful completion of EPIC training program and exam within one month of starting position.

Responsibilities

• Maintains accurate, complete and up-to-date patient records as prescribed by Emergency Center policies and procedures.
• Answers phones, relays calls and/or messages, calls ancillary departments or physicians as requested.
• Coordinates all transport resources by established ED policies and regulations.
• Copies and faxes materials as requested and processes records/reports as required by ED policies.
• Adheres to departmental operating procedures and maintains professional relationships with staff and patients.
• Demonstrates proficiency in using computerized nursing informatics systems to look up records.
• Represents hospital while maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Maintains adequate forms, materials and supplies at workstation.
• Adheres to safety and blood/body fluid policies and procedures.
• Provides service excellence to patients, visitors and staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
