Job summary

Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital in Wheat Ridge, Colorado seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department Float Pool. The RN will float to ED and other acute units, delivering timely, evidence-based care in fast-paced environments and collaborating with trauma teams and physicians.

The role emphasizes adaptability, strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork, with a 36-hour work week and a 10% float differential. BSN is required, and full benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of practice; compact licenses must be transferred within 60 days of start date.
• Minimum one (1) year of RN experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required and will be verified.
• RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their BSN within four years of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate, evidence-based nursing care in fast-paced emergency care environments.
• Perform rapid patient assessments, prioritize care, and initiate interventions.
• Recognize and respond quickly to changes in patient condition.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, technicians, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Provide care to patients with a wide range of illnesses, injuries, and emergency conditions.
• Administer medications, treatments, and procedures per policies and standards.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
• Adapt quickly to varying workflows, patient volumes, and acuity levels while maintaining quality and safety.
• Support a culture of teamwork, patient-centered care, and continuous improvement.
