Job summary

PIH Health Hospital is seeking an Emergency Financial Representative to secure upfront POS collections and help patients understand insurance coverage. The role involves setting up financial arrangements and guiding eligible patients to programs such as Medi-Cal and Uncompensated Care.

Responsibilities include completing forms before discharge, improving registration accuracy, and adhering to HIPAA privacy rules. NCI certification within 3 months is required.

Qualifications

• High school graduate; continuing education in finance/administration preferred.
• Two years’ experience in front office/medical billing or hospital registration/admitting preferred.
• Experience in insurance verification and/or medical billing preferred.
• EPIC EHR experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with understanding insurance coverage and eligibility.
• Perform up-front POS collections and establish reasonable payment arrangements.
• Identify and assist patients with programs like Medi-Cal, Uncompensated Care, and Hospital Presumptive Eligibility.
• Ensure registration and financial counseling tasks are completed before discharge from the Emergency department.
