Job summary

Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City, NM seeks an ER Tech I to join the emergency department care team. Under RN supervision, you will assist with patient assessments, vital signs, and basic procedures, and when assigned to Monitor Tech duties, enter orders into Meditech, monitor rhythms, and support patient care.

This role supports desk operations, patient transfers, charting, and communication with RNs and providers, with opportunities to float to other areas as needed; requires

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• New Mexico CNA certification, Level I/II nursing courses, or 2 years of Medical Assistant experience.
• BLS (AHA) certification required at date of hire.
• PEARS within 3 months from hire date.
• GRMC-approved EKG course within 3 months of hire and annually.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care and vital signs as directed by RN.
• Enter orders into Meditech and manage ER desk communications.
• Document patient care and assist with transfers and admissions.
• Maintain clean, stocked, and safe ER environment and respond to nurse calls.
• Provide information and emotional support to patients and families.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

New Mexico CNA certification

Level I and II courses from an accredited nursing college

BLS (AHA)

PEARS within 3 months from hire date

GRMC approved EKG course within 3 months of hire
