Job summary

MemorialCare is seeking a Registration Representative for a per diem night shift in Fountain Valley, CA. This role handles registrations for procedures, admissions, outpatient and ER visits, collecting demographic and insurance information for proper billing in Epic.

Excellent customer service is required for patients, visitors, clinicians, and co-workers. 1–2 years hospital admitting experience and bilingual abilities are preferred, with strong computer skills and knowledge of insurance payors.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in hospital admitting, physician office, or equivalent healthcare.
• Must communicate effectively and clearly both verbally and in writing.
• Strong customer service skills.
• General knowledge of insurance payors: PPO, HMO, POS, EPO, Medicare, Medi-Cal, & CalOptima.
• Bi-lingual (English/Spanish, or English/Vietnamese) preferred.
• Positive work ethic.
• General computer skills including: electronic medical record and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Complete registrations of patients presenting for procedures, admissions, outpatient and ER visits.
• Obtain and verify demographic and insurance information so the patient can be accurately identified and billed for their services.
• Enter notes in Epic as required.
• Collect and post payments timely and accurately. Immediately drops payment in safe or cash drawer.
• Maintain registration accuracy rate of 95% or better.
• Monitor and manage work queues.
• PBX: answers calls timely, professionally, and routes calls appropriately. Follow emergency codes and alarm paging protocols.
