Job summary

GBMC HealthCare is seeking an organized Registration Clerk to interview patients, gather information, and perform bedside registrations in a fast-paced emergency environment.

Position requires a high school diploma or GED, strong computer literacy, and excellent customer service. Experience in ED registration and CHAA is a plus; opportunity to grow within a respected hospital network in Towson, MD.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of Medical Terminology class preferred.
• 1–2 years related experience preferred.
• 6 months–1 year in Emergency Department preferred.
• CHAA licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Completes Arrival and Registration for patients with emergency needs.
• Use standard precautions to prevent exposure to blood or body fluids.
• Follows EMTALA regs for registration and co-pay collection.
• Performs bedside registrations for ER and admissions.
• Extensive insurance knowledge for accurate entry.
• Documents point of origin and referral source.
• Registers after-hours Radiology patients.
• Verifies demographics and insurance; collects payments.
• Informs patients of rates and rules; collaborates with staff.
• Inputs patient data to create medical records and IDs.
• Meets 7-minute per patient registration standard.
• Verifies benefits via Epic Real-Time Eligibility.
• Assists in training new employees; performs clerical duties.
• Maintains registration accuracy at 97% quarterly.
