Qualifications

• Knowledge of health care revenue cycle preferred.
• Must obtain CPAS certification within 6 months of hire date.
• Insurance knowledge and terminology, and understanding of medical terminology preferred.
• Knowledge of medical billing and collection practices a plus.
• Proficient in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and other language skills.
• Proficient in keyboarding, data entry, and business writing.
• Ability to convey a positive and professional image to patients and employees.
• Ability to establish and nurture beneficial business relationships.
• Maintain composure in high pressure situations.

Responsibilities

• Collects information via phone or in person to accurately register patients for services.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and discusses ABN when appropriate.
• Understands insurances and inputs data for reimbursement.
• Collects, secures, and posts payments from patients.
• Greets patients and provides routing assistance to the point of service.
• Handles phone, fax, and email inquiries.
• Balances cash drawers, petty cash, and change functions.
• Prepares funds for deposits.
• Answers correspondence.
• Provides patients with Financial Assistance information and explains submission and processing.
