Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking part-time, on-site Lead Instructors to guide elementary age participants in the BASE program. You will support the supervisor and foster teamwork, social-emotional learning, and skill-building through sports, arts, STEM and hands-on activities.

Locations include West Seattle, Roxhill, Concord, Boren STEM K-8, Arbor Heights, and Fairmount Park. Schedules run Mon–Fri, early mornings to after-school, with some full-day coverage on non-school days.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• 2+ years experience with children (camp, child care, tutoring, nannying).
• Model YMCA values: caring, respect, responsibility, honesty.
• Experience planning group activities.
• CPR/First Aid certification.
• TB tests and MMR vaccination required.
• Food worker card and MeriT background check compliance.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements culturally relevant activities within the Y curriculum.
• Supervises children to ensure health, safety and positive experiences.
• Guides staff/volunteers overseeing groups of children.
• Communicates with parents/guardians daily and confidentially.
• Follows YMCA policies including safety, discipline and emergencies.
• Maintains site appearance, décor and cleanliness.
• May serve snacks and assist at check-in/out.
• Supports school Play Everyday program and attends trainings.
