Job summary

The Town of Zebulon Public Works Department is seeking an experienced Equipment Operator to maintain and repair municipal infrastructure, facilities, and grounds using a range of large motorized equipment.

Under general supervision, you will operate mowers, knuckle booms, leaf trucks, sweepers and backhoes; perform routine maintenance; work around traffic and utilities; respond to emergencies; and assist with community events.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read and write.
• 2–4 years of experience operating medium to heavy duty motorized equipment.
• NCDOT certified flagger designation.

Responsibilities

• Operate large motorized equipment (mowers, knuckle booms, leaf trucks, sweepers, backhoes) and perform routine tasks.
• Maintain and repair infrastructure, facilities, and grounds.
• Perform snow removal, sidewalk repairs, and street utility work; install/repair street signs.
• Adhere to safety procedures and work zone protections.
