City of Kinston is seeking a skilled equipment operator to maintain streets, utilities, and related facilities in North Carolina. You will operate backhoes, loaders, graders, and other machinery, perform trenching, diagnostics, and routine maintenance, and work safely in a busy public works environment.

This role involves fieldwork in various weather conditions, adherence to safety rules, and potential cross-training in water distribution and wastewater systems.

Competenze

• Graduation from high school and considerable experience operating equipment related to public works.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
• Must obtain NC Class A CDL and possibly other department-specific certifications.

Mansioni

• Operate medium to heavy equipment to repair streets, sidewalks, and right-of-ways.
• Dig trenches, install and repair utilities, and maintain storm drains and pipes.
• Perform routine maintenance and daily safety checks on equipment.
• Work in various weather conditions and in close proximity to traffic and utilities.
• Train new staff on safe operation of equipment and procedures.
