Job summary

The City of Leander is seeking an Equipment Operator II to perform mid-level maintenance on streets, drainage systems, and public rights-of-way, and to assist in training new staff. The role requires a CDL and ability to work a scheduled on-call rotation.

You will operate a range of heavy equipment, prepare sites, and follow safety practices while outdoors in varied weather. This full-time position reports to the Public Works department and includes after-hours calls and occasional emergencies.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum one year work experience in construction, maintenance and repair of city streets, sidewalks, rights-of-way, stormwater ponds, and drainage systems or related technical training.
  • Texas Commercial Driver License (CDL), Class A with air brake endorsement.

Responsibilities

  • Work schedule is Monday-Thursday from 6:30am - 5:00pm; schedule subject to change.
  • Perform general maintenance for street, drainage, and rights-of-ways.
  • Prepare equipment, vehicles, and tools for assignments.
  • Operate and maintain safety in construction and maintenance of streets and roadways.
  • Assist in concrete duties and repairs to guardrails and bridges.
  • Repair storm drains, inlets, and related infrastructure.
  • Drive to various work sites and support after-hours on-call rotations.
