Job summary

The City of Norfolk invites applications for an Equipment Operator II in the Public Works Department. You will operate heavy equipment, load and unload, and assist with street, sidewalk, curb, and bridge maintenance across the city's right of way. Standard hours are 7:00 a.m.

to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The role requires two years of heavy equipment experience or completion of a city apprenticeship, a valid CDL, and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds.

Qualifications

• Two years operating heavy equipment or completion of City apprenticeship.
• Must possess valid CDL; provide driving record within 30 days of interview.
• Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds and work in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment such as trucks, dump trucks, rollers, and other machinery to repair and maintain streets, sidewalks, and bridges.
• Assists with loading/unloading equipment and materials at job sites.
• Performs maintenance on City streets, sidewalks, and bridges and assists with site cleanup.
