An established industry player is seeking skilled Equipment Operators to join their team in maintaining and constructing vital County infrastructure. This role involves operating heavy machinery and ensuring the upkeep of vehicles used in road and waste site projects. Under the direction of a District Road Superintendent, perform skilled operation of heavy equipment and vehicles to construct and maintain County roads and solid waste sites; service and assist in the maintenance of assigned equipment and vehicles.
Equipment Operator II incumbents perform skilled duties in the more complex construction of County roads and solid waste sites. Equipment Operator III incumbents exercise greater independence and have sole responsibility for a geographical section of the County such as the Salton Sea area. Equipment Operator I incumbents are assigned maintenance and repair duties for County roads and bridges.
Any combination equivalent to: two years of increasingly responsible experience operating and maintaining heavy equipment used in the construction and maintenance of County roads and waste sites.
Valid California Class A driver's license is required.
A valid driver’s license may be required at the time of appointment, and employees may also be required to drive their own vehicle and provide proof of liability insurance as per Vehicle Code VC § 160020. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
This position may require pre-employment drug testing, physical examination, and fingerprinting for a background investigation.
