Job summary

A public works department is seeking an Equipment Operator I to join the Utilities Division. The ideal candidate will safely operate various equipment for the construction, repair, and maintenance of water and sewer lines. Responsibilities include performing manual labor, servicing equipment, and resolving problems independently or as part of a team. A VA Class A CDL with tanker endorsement is required. The position offers a starting pay of $17.37 per hour and excellent benefits.

Qualifications

• VA Class A CDL license with tanker endorsement required.
• Ability to perform after-hours standby duty.
• Operational knowledge of backhoe, sewer and water lines preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate light and medium duty equipment.
• Perform repair and maintenance of water and sewer lines.
• Make minor repairs to equipment.
