Job summary

Waste Resource Management (WRM) is seeking an Equipment Operator to run heavy machinery and support daily site operations. The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and reliability in a fast-paced environment, with opportunities for skill development and career advancement.

Under direct supervision of the Site Supervisor, you will perform equipment inspections, monitor performance, and help maintain compliant operations across WRM’s Texas sites and affiliated assets.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational training or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Experience with compost operations a plus.
  • Prior experience operating heavy machinery in industrial/construction settings preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude; knowledge of pumps and valves is a plus.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve equipment issues.
  • Strong communication and ability to follow written/verbal instructions.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Operate construction and site equipment (excavators, front-end loaders, yard trucks, etc.).
  • Conduct pre-operation and post-operation inspections.
  • Monitor equipment performance and report issues promptly.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work area per safety policies.
  • Support plant operations through special projects and other duties.
  • Comply with safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Overview

Under the direct supervision of the Site Supervisor, the Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy machinery in support of daily production and site operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining efficient, safe, and compliant operations by handling equipment related to composting, material movement, and site maintenance. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude, safety awareness, and the ability to work effectively in a fast paced, industrial environment.

Essential Functions:
  • Operate construction and site equipment including, but not limited to, excavators, front‑end loaders, yard trucks, and other heavy machinery.
  • Perform required pre‑operation and post‑operation equipment inspections.
  • Monitor equipment performance and report mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work area in compliance with company safety policies.
  • Support plant operations through special projects and additional assigned duties.
  • Comply with all safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Equipment operation or vocational certifications preferred but not required.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational training or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Experience or familiarity with compost operations is a plus but not required.
  • Prior experience operating heavy machinery in an industrial or construction environment preferred.Strong working knowledge of heavy equipment operation and capabilities.
  • Mechanical aptitude, including experience with pumps and valves, preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem‑solve equipment issues.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Self‑motivated with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
