Job summary

Rural King is seeking a Mechanic I to diagnose, service, and repair customer and company-owned equipment in our in-store repair shop in Anderson, SC. You’ll work on small engines, tractors, diesel equipment, hydraulic systems, and outdoor power gear, handling repair orders, parts, and warranty claims while delivering strong customer service.

Qualifications

• Good mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities with experience diagnosing and repairing small engines, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, or related equipment.
• Proficient in diagnostic equipment, multimeters, service tools, repair manuals, and schematics.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and computer-based systems.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple repair work orders.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Willingness to learn new equipment, technology, and repair procedures.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, service, repair, and maintain small engines, tractors, diesel equipment, hydraulic systems, and outdoor power equipment.
• Manage customer repair work orders from intake through completion, including documentation, parts ordering, repairs, and warranty claims.
• Perform preventative maintenance and intermediate-level service on customer and company-owned equipment.
• Use diagnostic software, multimeters, service tools, repair manuals, schematics, and system diagrams to identify equipment issues and complete repairs.
• Complete warranty documentation and process claims according to manufacturer requirements.
• Order and manage special-order parts needed for repairs.
• Document work performed, repair progress, identified issues, parts used, and recommended next steps.
• Communicate repair recommendations, service updates, and maintenance information to customers.
• Assist with equipment sales and customer education when needed.
• Load and unload customer and company-owned equipment for repairs, service, and delivery.
• Safely operate forklifts, gantry cranes, electric hoists, diagnostic equipment, multimeters, and other shop tools.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized repair shop and properly handle hazardous materials.
• Use computer systems, CRM software, barcode scanners, wireless devices, and Microsoft Office for documentation, parts lookup, and service-related tasks.
• Manage multiple work orders, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
• Participate in cross-training and ongoing technical training.
