Job summary

Rural King is seeking a Mechanic I to diagnose, service, and repair small engines, tractors, diesel equipment, and hydraulic systems in our in-store repair shop.

You will manage repair work orders, parts, warranty claims, and communicate repair recommendations to customers while maintaining safety and quality standards. This role also involves using diagnostic tools and software and supporting customer education.

Qualifications

• Intermediate to advanced mechanical skills with experience diagnosing and repairing small engines, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, or related equipment.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Experience using diagnostic equipment, multimeters, service tools, repair manuals, and schematics.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer-based systems.
• Ability to manage multiple repair work orders and communicate with customers.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, service, repair, and maintain small engines, tractors, diesel equipment, hydraulic systems, and outdoor power equipment.
• Manage customer repair work orders from intake through completion, including documentation, parts ordering, repairs, and warranty claims.
• Perform preventative maintenance and intermediate-level service on customer and company-owned equipment.
• Use diagnostic software, multimeters, service tools, repair manuals, schematics, and system diagrams to identify issues and complete repairs.
• Complete warranty documentation and process claims according to manufacturer requirements.
• Order and manage special-order parts needed for repairs.
• Document work performed, repair progress, identified issues, parts used, and recommended next steps.
• Communicate repair recommendations, service updates, and maintenance information to customers.
• Assist with equipment sales and customer education when needed.
• Load and unload equipment for repairs, service, and delivery.
• Safely operate forklifts, gantry cranes, electric hoists, diagnostic equipment, multimeters, and other shop tools.
