Job summary

Rural King is seeking a skilled Mechanic I to diagnose, service, and repair customer and company-owned equipment in our in-store repair shop. You’ll handle small engines, tractors, diesel equipment, hydraulics, and outdoor power gear, while managing repair orders and warranty claims.

Ideal candidates will troubleshoot using diagnostic tools and communicate effectively with customers, with strong organizational skills to prioritize multiple work orders in a busy shop environment.

Qualifications

• Intermediate to advanced mechanical skills for small engines, diesel engines, and hydraulics.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities with common shop tools.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer-based systems.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, service, repair, and maintain engines and equipment.
• Manage repair work orders, parts, and warranty claims from intake to completion.
• Perform preventative maintenance and intermediate service.
• Use diagnostic software and manuals to identify issues and complete repairs.
• Document work performed, progress, and next steps; communicate with customers.
• Load/unload equipment; assist with sales and customer education; ensure safety.
