Job summary

Tharp Consulting seeks a senior engineering leader to drive the development of Body Frame Weld equipment for North American manufacturing. You will manage multiple projects, mentor engineers, and ensure early planning with cost efficiency and agility.

You will oversee feasibility studies, verify requirements, and guide specifications and process plans for New Model Weld Equipment across North America, reporting to leadership. Travel up to 10% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of engineering experience with New Model development.
• Experience with Body in White and Honda manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead feasibility studies for Body Frame Weld equipment from sketches to drawings.
• Verify equipment requirements and oversee drawing maturation across North America.
• Develop specifications and process plans for New Model Weld Equipment.
• Provide technical guidance and monitor design changes.
• Analyze problems, determine root causes, and drive corrective actions.

Job description

This role involves leading the development of engineering solutions to enhance North American manufacturing capabilities, focusing on Product, Process, and Tooling. You will manage multiple projects, oversee and mentor other engineers, and ensure early planning with agility and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Leading feasibility studies for Body Frame Weld equipment from styling sketches to initial drawings, and reporting content to leadership.
• Verifying equipment requirements and overseeing drawing maturation across North America.
• Developing specifications and process plans for New Model Weld Equipment, providing technical guidance, and monitoring design changes.
• Participating in problem analysis, root cause determination, and corrective actions within manufacturing processes.
• Researching future development methods and mentoring less experienced engineers.

Qualifications And Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related experience.
• 5+ years of engineering experience, with expertise in Equipment/Tool New Model development, preferably in Honda production facilities.
• Strong problem-solving skills, knowledge of Body in White construction, and Honda manufacturing processes.
