Job summary

Honda in Marysville, Ohio is seeking a qualified Mechanical/Industrial Engineer to lead equipment integration for new model introductions. You will leverage 3-D CAD and simulation tools to translate design requirements into detailed specifications, and act as Project Leader or PIC on cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Proficiency with 3-D CAD systems and automated equipment development.
  • Excellent written and oral technical communication skills.

Job Purpose

Work as part of a multi‑discipline team to introduce and implement equipment required for new model introduction into Honda facilities. Leveraging 3‑D CAD software and simulation tools, identify key change points and summarize them into a specification that fixes design requirements. Drive forward projects and activities as functional Project Leader, Person in Charge (PIC), or Subject Matter Expert from inception through handoff to final design/assembly. Focus on characteristic improvements that align with the Business Unit strategy and regional goals while collaborating with the design team and plant members to achieve required quality, cost, and safety criteria.

Key Accountabilities
  • Develop optimal machine concepts for any process characteristic change, utilizing fundamentally sound engineering principles.
  • Provide technical support of equipment/process and assist the Project Leadership function.
  • Support correlation with external functions (e.g., external suppliers or plant resources).
  • Act as direct project leaders for small/midsized business plan projects, driving forward the project from an engineering perspective.
  • Perform detailed process studies of new model car parts to understand machine capability and feed back issues to car part designers as needed.
  • Create Specification/Scope of work documentation to summarize change points, establish criteria, and define process/part flow.
  • Provide online support during the installation phase, linked to verifying spec criteria.
  • Create and maintain a critical path schedule to meet overall project milestones.
Qualifications, Experience, And Skills
Minimum Educational Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
Minimum Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
Other Job‑Specific Skills
  • Knowledge of 3‑D CAD systems and software.
  • Background in automated equipment development.
  • Excellent technical communication skills (both written and oral).

Working Conditions
  • 85% Office environment – creation of specification documentation.
  • 15% Manufacturing floor – direct line side investigation / system‑up support / verification at any Honda facility.
  • Must be willing to travel locally, regionally, and internationally as required on a project basis (to Honda facilities or external equipment vendors).
