Job summary

Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Clerk III to support Equine Field Service and Farrier services within the Veterinary Medical Center. You will coordinate appointments, communicate with clients, support billing, and help maintain records and supplies in a fast-paced clinical environment.

The role offers interaction with clinicians, students, and staff, along with opportunities to contribute to education and patient care.

Qualifications

• Any combination of clerical office experience, related undergraduate education, and/or post high school clerical training equivalent to two years of full-time employment.
• Experience providing administrative support in a veterinary or medical clinical setting.
• Experience coordinating appointments or service logistics.
• Experience with billing, invoicing, or financial account reconciliation.
• Experience providing client or customer service in a professional setting.
• Experience supporting veterinary education, student programs, or clinical training.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate routine, recheck, and urgent appointments balancing clinician availability and workflow.
• Serve as a key point of contact for clients by phone, email, and service messages.
• Assist with billing by entering and reviewing charges, resolving discrepancies, and preparing invoices.
• Maintain accurate patient and client records and regulatory documentation.
• Coordinate supplies, inventory, equipment records, and staff scheduling to support operations.
• Assist with clinical support activities such as sample submissions and pharmacy orders.
• Support fourth-year veterinary student rotations and educational materials.
• Assist with client outreach and research activities conducted by departmental faculty and staff.
