Job summary

San Antonio Equine Hospital is seeking a Medical Director / Managing DVM to provide clinical leadership and guide the growth of the practice. You will work closely with the Practice Manager to create a cohesive environment for employees and clients, aligning medical directions and hospital operations.

The role emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and advancing high-quality equine medicine with opportunities to develop ambulatory services and sports medicine initiatives.

Qualifications

• DVM from an AVMA-accredited institution.
• Experience in equine veterinary medicine with high standards of care.
• Previous leadership, mentoring, or team-development experience; medical leadership is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with a Practice Manager and team.
• Ability to balance independent clinical decisions with shared leadership and accountability.
• Interest in sports medicine or ambulatory services is welcome.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality equine veterinary care in hospital and ambulatory settings.
• Lead the hospital as part of a unified leadership team with the Practice Manager.
• Mentor and develop veterinarians, technicians, and support staff.
• Oversee case management, medical standards, and treatment planning.
• Build client relationships and contribute to practice growth.
