Job summary

Global Talent Partners is seeking a Medical Director Veterinarian in San Antonio, TX to lead medical quality, mentor a skilled team, and continue hands-on patient care in an established companion-animal hospital.

This role combines clinical duties with leadership, protocol development, and strategy to advance patient care, diagnostics, anesthesia, and client service; a dynamic environment with dedicated admin time.

Responsibilities

• Lead and maintain high standards of veterinary medicine
• Establish, review and uphold clinical protocols
• Champion evidence-based medicine and continuous quality improvement
• Maintain an active small-animal clinical caseload
• Provide preventative, medical, dental and surgical care
• Mentor and support fellow veterinarians
• Develop veterinary technicians and support professionals
• Encourage case discussion and shared clinical learning
• Oversee patient-safety standards
• Guide anesthesia and pain-management protocols
• Support diagnostic and treatment planning
• Utilize radiography, dental imaging, ultrasound and in-house laboratory testing
• Provide guidance for urgent and emergency presentations during operating hours
• Maintain appropriate after-hours referral processes
• Partner closely with practice management on hospital operations
• Support workflow and scheduling improvements
• Contribute to inventory and budgeting decisions
• Help improve the overall client experience
• Participate in veterinarian recruitment and onboarding
• Provide constructive performance feedback and clinical coaching
• Support preventative-care initiatives and client education
• Contribute to community engagement and the hospital's local reputation
• Dedicated administrative time supports Medical Director responsibilities, helping maintain an appropriate balance between clinical practice and leadership
